Do I expect to much !

I've been sent a few things for free from guy's off this forum and I can't get over the friendliness of most of the people here.

Every time, I offered to pre-pay with PayPal - no one would take it. I'm the kind of person that believes what-goes-around-comes-around. I can't offer a beer as i'm in Ireland so a bit too far away to call over for a beer :)

A friend and I have created a mapping project www.corribcharts.com - we offer it for FREE as it's our hobby. Now that it's becoming popular you wouldn't believe the amount of people that expect a copy as if it's a god given right for them to have it

Bleedin' typical. Bernie lovingly and painstakingly fashions this work of art out of the finest materials known to man, varnishes it to a mirror finish, and what do you do with? Stick it on the end of a ruddy brush handle.

Phil,

I will leave it to you to see that Tom fits it to the top of a proper staff. I made the top cap on a poor mans lathe, a bench drill press and rasp file. Can't have LittleShip motoring around with a broom handle now can we. Those are for submarines that have fired all of there torpedos and sunk ships. Now, I know Tom hasn't sunk any ships lately, but he has pranged a few pontoons.... so I hear anyway.

Ah, now then Bernie, there's something you should know about me and Little Ships flag staff. It sort of ermm, broke in my hand a while ago, I haven't lived it down yet and don't expect to do so for time. I'll maybe supervise the new flagstaff fitting at a distance. ;)

You've done well to still be alive. It must have hurt Tom's, uh, pride in LittleShip. I suppose I will end up having to scrounge a piece of wood and shaping it to size for the new staff. Any idea how long the original staff was or how long Tom would like his new one?:D

Bernie

I reckon he only spared me so as he could give me stick over it!
Mind you, I broke the one on the transom which carries the ensign, the new one is for his GB flag on the bow isn't it?
Isn't there a standard length/girth for a GB flag staff?

Listen you lot..........

I'll have you know mine's of adiquate length :P

Now about the "Jackstaff" I shall cut off the rough top bit and stick the mushroom on the broom handle, who'll ever know ? Hmm apparently all the bloody world now. :(

As for people who use the duster pole as a grab handle, I have a knuckle rapper supplied by Bernie for the next time :p

Well I have thought hard about replying to this, but I will.

Id like to say I have spent many hours typing back pm to various on here advise on volvo related problems, sometimes I get work from it sometimes I dont, I dont do the replies to get work but when I do im gratefull and do it to my best etc.

But yes imafraid I have also been a victim, even been told im wrong too, but just laugh it off, he who knows best and all that!

On my last mooring I helped out trying to sort an over heat, it was a lead from a fiend who was moored next to him at Warsash, we had just returned to our mooring this guy turned up, didnt take our ropes but as soon as my feet had landed he wanted to know when I would look at his boat, 10 mins later I did duly, 2 hours later, not even offered a drink, we left it that it needed further investigation.

I never heard a thing after so maybe id cured it, I see him many times in Valshedas, not even an offer of a drink let alone payment for the job I did.

Deep pockets and short arms eh!

Please anyone dont get me wrong ill help anyone out but as said a thankyou is all thats asked.

Oh while I remember, had a guy with tamd75s, could not sort his problem, told him id come along and plug in edc, no he didnt want to pay, but would I ring his engineer and tell him how to read the edc!!!!! cheeky git, especially as I already knew what his problem was, then had him on the phone for over an hour still picking my brains.
