Going to see a puma 26 in Pontevedra,Galicia on Saturday at 1800hrs.Not much of the daylight left so initial plan is to just see if it’s what we want and have a look atthe outboard installation, furli g gear ,basic stuff .If we think it’s what we want arrange for another day to have time to check out stuff like chain plates keel bolts, bilges and structural things like bulkheads etc.Couldunfurl the Genoa and pull up the main.we know the windows need doing but certainly don’t want too much major work. The problem will be e owner who will want to hover about but having a good poke about can take half a day.Come across a series of vids of a couple doing a massive refit of a Puma 26 which is very insightful

Don't minimise the work needed to be done on windows. Modern mastics are marvellous until used to secure windows - they can be very tenacious and devil to clean up sufficient to instal a new window.

First go through the trauma suggested by Jonathan

Then - easy way that worked on Jissel:

Our frames were a h shaped, we cut them down to make an l section and used them as a purely decorative trim - you could skip this bit. Get Plexiglass the size of the outside of the frames, drill in the same places as the mounting holes in the trim. Now stick butyl tape around the window opening and add the plexi, and the trim, fitting the screws/bolts, but leaving them no more than just nipped up. Come back a few days later and tighten the fastenings until the tape is well in contact with the cabin side and the pane all round. Our interscrews were knackered, so I used machine screws with dome nuts in the inside. I added a thin ply trim round the inside and I reckon it looked pretty good and no more leaks while we had her.
