I can see why people stop posting on this Forum.
Although I rarely post on any Forum having the opinion that you should only post when you have something useful to say and not just to spout off - I must comment on this thread.

I have now given up boating due to age and health but I was a member of boat club committee's for 33 years which included approximately 12 years on the ATYC committee as a Vice Chairman. I therefore do not understand what this is all about, especially the post from Cuchilo talking about "a nice little earner".

No Officer receives any payment whatsoever and spends hours attending meetings on behalf of the Association. Personally I attended three different RUGS which entailed a round trip from home of approximately 150 miles 12 times a year. I also attended at various times meetings with the PLA and Envag.

In fact it costs money to be an Officer of the Association and although it is possible to claim expenses I never claimed for phone calls etc, and the only claims were for stationery bought and always substantiated by receipts.

Anything I did was an attempt to put something back into a recreational sport I enjoyed.

I suggest that some people stop knocking the efforts others make to try and help others in their enjoyment.

Having said all this I see no reason to continue to be a member of a Forum that has a developed from somewhere to post about the Thames and the enjoyment of such, to a carping and vicious Forum where posts attack other boaters.

WHAT A FANTASTIC FIRST POST!! LOOK EVERYBODY, ANOTHER ATYC MINION JOINED UP FOR THE SOLE INTENTION OF POSTING PROPAGANDA!!

I love the bit you say 'Having said all this I see no reason to continue to be a member of a Forum that has a developed from somewhere to post about the Thames and the enjoyment of such, to a carping and vicious Forum where posts attack other boaters' you slimy little toad.

You only joined for one reason, and thats because other ATYC people alerted you to this thread, needing a little help.

This STINKS!!

I am so sorry, I was not my intention to destroy the forum. Not realy understanding what is going on, I still dont, but feel that these differences need to be sorted so that boaters that want representation can have it. Without the muck slinging.

Mate, you have nothing to apologise for. Nothing. :)

I find it very odd and rather pathetic if i'm honest . These people that are turning up out of the blue had no interest in us or this forum before Tony started the TMBA . Then they started popping up all over the place and seem to get upset when we dont take much notice of them .
Its been fun taking the rise out of them for a while but they are boring me now .

Another case of the winter blues with nothing else to do but read the comments on here and attack them I fear.
Lets just get out there, use the river and fight for it and the people that work it and for it (in whatever guise!)
There is no room for title tattle on the river. If we want to use it - then use it, fight for it and belong to a club or an association with a voice that can speak for you - you will not be heard if you shout alone.............

For the information of No Regrets and Cuchilo I have been a member of this forum for several years and used to find it interesting and informative. I do not usually post as I have previously said unless you have something sensible to say don't post at all.

I have not been in contact with any ATYC members because as I said in my previous post I no longer boat due to age and health and have no contact with my previous colleagues.

The only contact I have with any boaters now is the occasional club event I may attend.

Having put that straight I will no longer bother to look at this forum as it seems to have been taken over by people with a chip on their shoulders as large as Mount Everest.

Would you walk into a pub or club, complain vociferously about the regulars and their opinions and then announce (twice) that you will not be visiting again as you dislike and disagree with the clientele?

Because that is what you have done (twice).

Poor form.

I agree with True Blue and wish the two organisations could work together. Such vitriolic slagging-off of each other

Just for the record, the TMBA has not engaged in 'slagging-off' anybody and actively recognises and supports the ATYC and their member clubs - see the NOTE at the foot of our adslip below.

Any issues the TMBA itself might have with any other body or individual will be pursued through the appropriate channels and not on this, or any other, forum.

'I do not usually post' ...ROFLMAO

You never posted anything until that original post though did you? That makes you either a parasitic lurker or a non-attendee.

Despite what you say, I will bet the contents of my underpants you'll be looking in at every possible opportunity...

Dear TMBA,
I was not implying you slagged off anyone. I have heard nothing from either organisation critisising the other. Its what everyone else is doing that is so tiresome. You encouraged me to come on the forum but its not been too enlightening - so I think I'll leave you all to it,
Regards,
Sheila x

Hang on in there guys, it's easy to ignore posts.

Your contributions are more worthy than all the combative posts.

You clearly missed poor old TrueBlue being abused by an ATYC henchman then? LOL

Shelia......don't be a silly sausage.....don't leave...

I hope I don't fall under 'everyone' as this forum is a font of useful knowledge and I plan to ride out the stormy seas until we reach the calmer waters of the approaching new season :D

It's the forum equivalent of S.A.D.

Please please please.....I beseech you....don't let the buggers grind us down:D
