My preference is

Zero wind
zero tide

If we are caught out in strong wind I will spend the afternoon at anchor on the beach and wait for the wind to drop before heading into a tight marina berth.

Also dont drink under those circumstances.

Sounds horrible, especially at Brighton, the waves can bounce back off the wall at the entrance and the wind blow round in circles when inside.
