Dinghy Transport

I am buying a dinghy that is currently in Hampshire. I am in the South of Scotland. I am not sure whether to make a two day drive fest, going down with a buddy to pick it up and tow it home. Could anyone suggest a transport company that would bring it up here for me, without costing me an arm and a leg?

Bloody Hell. A two day drive, possibly 400 miles. Possibly 20 gallons of fuel and overnight accommodation and food. That could be £200 minimum!

Is the tender worth it?

There have been delivery relays organised through the forum before. It's still a bit of a stretch. Is it gold-plated?

Get a quote from Pallet-line. I sold a mobility scooter to someone in Glasgow, and he had Pallet-line collect it from us in Cornwall.

Boat is light (c150 pounds) but is 18 feet long, 4.5 feet beam, and has its own custom fit road trailer which I want to get North too.

Not quite a one off boat, but they do not come up very often at all, and I do not expect to find one nearer to me, hence the need to transport this one.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Yes me too - how about a cruise up the inland waterway system, spending each night in a comfortable canal-side pub.

Better not let The Old Guvnor see this - she'll say: "Well why aren't we doing that instead of spending our time being bashed about at sea?."
