Thanks LJS - yes, had a call from harbour master an hour or so ago saying the same - they are going to go over and send me a pic, so that should hopefully settle it, but I am very grateful to you for loooking out.
Fingers crossed it’s yours. Please let us know.

Well, well, well - it is indeed ours. No one knows how it got there - best guess is jolly japes by some of the sometimes local yoof, so I think I will take that and stand by my bitches (I may take the kick up the ass to revisit my knot technique, but that should in no way be taken as an admission of guilt?). Thanks again for all the helpful suggestions and encouragement.

Glad to hear of the positive outcome. Reminds me (though I don't know why) of when Sailing Uma lost their tender on YouTube. It turned up right where it was predicted it would be by the tidal flows. They get it back to Uma and queue the shot of Dan tethering it badly to the wrong side of the cleat.

Where are you now. How are you planning on getting it back?

The only way of being sure is doing what I do - alway tie two painters at night especially if some drink has been consumed.

I always padlock the Torqueedo to the dinghy (and through the battery so that can’t be taken separately). I haven’t yet felt the need to actually chain the dinghy to boat or dock and am confident that the magnetic key fob will defeat casual thieves. I don’t know whether it is keyed to that engine alone or whether all the key fobs work with any engine.

I looked more closely just now and there appears to be 3 bags of rubbish in your Zodiac. And it’s tied to another dinghy, not the pontoon. Seems strange.

Basic question as you are apparently not on a walk ashore mooring , are you sure it did not just come untied and drift off and may yet be found when HM staff wake up and answer calls? Bin there and got that tee shirt, doh.
I lost my dinghy in Salcombe many years ago, I was convinced it had been stolen from the back of the boat until it was reported adrift half way to Plymouth.
A day on buses and a taxi back had us reunited. ?

The rubbish is as we left it, ready for the bin and bakery run in the morning. You’d think the cheeky monkeys who borrowed it could at least have put it in the bins!

The only way of being sure is doing what I do - alway tie two painters at night especially if some drink has been consumed.

We fitted a second painter to our dinghy - originally to spread the load when being towed (one attached the the main towing eye/handle, the other with a bridle to the two side eyes).

But definitely a benefit, as always tied up with two knots. And a system whereby skipper tied one on and mate tied the other. Then shouldn’t come loose ........ but if it does the blame can’t be one sided :)
