If someone has a DigiBox on their boat running direct from the batteries, what sort of drain would that be? Furthermore running a colour TV from the batteries via an inverter, how much of a strain would that be?

Elderly 14" tv states 65w max, add 16w digi, + conversion loss, say 100 w, therefore around 9 amps per hour from 12v system. Modern flat screen probably less than half old cathode ray tubes.

anyone opened a digibox up yet? I'm running mine from an inverter, but it would be nice to convert it to run from 12V DC (as well as being more efficient).

Mine already is 12v. Panasonic. Runs of a standard 12v wall socket transformer, so would run quite happily off ships 12v

Nah, free-to-air terrestrial digital TV - £80-£100 for the box in Comet or wherever. Needs a decent aerial (I just stuck one of them Glomex thingies on) and it works a treat - even gets digital radio, too.

Sky is no problem but obviously can only be used when moored up.
BTW. Thanx for all the answers folks.
