I have still a slight smell in the boat since the tanks were replaced last year. I,ve heard that lemon spray is an effective treatment around the tanks and bilges. Anyone had this problem? Dave.

There was a whole thread on it a couple of weeks ago.

My favourite solution is a small electric bar fire. Theory is, it is hot enough to burn up diesel molecules in the air. Keeps me warm too when I'm working on the boat.

I had this problem with kerosene smell from a CH boiler in one of our letting cottages. One solution suggested was Cat Urine Odour Remover.

Went to the pet store - they had a product called Simple Solution Stain & odour remover (blue spray bottle) and it contains enzymes to remove odour.

It works,..Mop up all visible diesel, wash & dry and then spray - might need a couple of goes over a period of a couple of days but it does work.

I use this too, very effective.

I once spilled some diesel in the car - I got the advise to use coffee powder.
I spread some of the powder and left for a while before I vacum cleaned it. Thereafter I left a some coffee powder in in an open box under the rear seat.
After a while I forgot about it and noticed the box with coffee only when I cleared all items having sold the car. Forgetting about the smell is evidence enough for me to accept it worked :)
