I just heard a rumour that Dart Marina no longer sells diesel and that there is only the fuel barge now. Does anyone know if that is correct?? We are headed there tommorrow night en route to South Brittany and want a last minute top up at UK prices (albeit rip-off ones) before heading south.

No diesel here anymore. They're developing on the water front and the tanks have gone. It's just the fuel barge now.

Thanks for that. We will probably get in about 0630 when they are closed, we could maybe tie alongside until they open (0900?) or is that a trick everyone does so unlikely to be a space? We normally go on the floating pontoons by the chain ferry but I suspect those will be full at 0630 as well until peeps wake up and move.

You can anchor in the Kingsweir side of the river very close to the fuel barge on the inside of the large ship mooring buoys. This area is packed during Regatta week.

Yes we have done that too, just that after a day's work and a night sail it would be easier to get fuel on the way in, then moor up or anchor and get some sleep. In the past we have managed either to arrive just as Dart Marina opened or have gone alongside and kipped in the cockpit until they did.

They have now opened the pontoons opposite (Dartmouth side) to larger craft. The whole side is now available to visitors. It used to be available to permanent craft leaving a little room for craft under 26ft only.
You will be able to moor up easily there. I was there last week and there was plently of space for larger craft.

Regards.

Thanks Peter

Do you mean the long series of pontoons that were for local boats, from memory that run almost up to the ferry slip by Dart Marina? Are they actually connected to the shore anywhere or like the others but closer to the action? Also do you know if they are in deepwater, I know it gets shallow over towards the wall?

I just tried the Dartmouth website which a) says diesel is available at Dart Marina and b) only has berth rates for 2003, very useful!
