At the risk of stirring things up.... It appears from all the threads re red diesel that the majority of seasoned nth sea crossing folk are re thinking plans for the season ahead regards Belgium, Holland and France. I may have got the wrong handle on this but apart from the recent commotion between GB and near continent officials, RYA and jolly boater folk like us the EU ruling was in place last year?...
As I have stated before in previous posts we were boarded by the Douanes in Blankenberge during August last year and they were not at all interested in diesel receipts etc, I had just filled up from their fuel pontoon so this may have made a difference. But seriously more focus was placed on qualifications, serial numbers of safety gear including liferaft, flares, make and models of VHF etc. We had three weeks in the area and not one issue seen or heard of up as far as Yserke. A few weeks prior we made the crossing to Oostende in the wake of the Nth Sea yacht race and again no issues in Zeebrugge.
Am I to take it that Belgium Holland and France is now seriously consigned to memory for the near future for folk. Is there anyone out there who may be able to respond re being fined in France?

Found it in Yachting Monthly Feb issue,

The Little Ship Club campaign to get HMRC to rethink its red diesel proposals is gathering momentum with Yachting Monthly posting a story today (29 February 2012) on its website headlined, "Cameron told: 'sort out red diesel''.

The Yachting Monthly post outlines the LSC decision to cancel its rally to Belgium this year and relocate to the Solent due to the Belgian authorities fining visiting yachtsmen up to £750 for having even a trace of dyed diesel in their tanks.
