Diamond Jubilee Flotilla

The thought of -

a thousand boats trying to keep station in the Tideway even at slack water, fills me with horror.

Every year I see what a hash folks make of it on Henley Saturday, where there usually is little flow.....

a. supporting the Thames... Where do I sign up?
b. 100 boats on station... fender city me-thinks..
c. Free drinks anywhere is a great idea and not to be dismissed out of hand..

Also it suggests rowing boats minimum of 4 peeps.. Wouldn't want to be in a 4 man scull on a choppy thames surrounded by 999 over-enthusiastic gas guzzlers..

Having seen the challenge first hand of 50+ boats trying to keep station crossing to Dunkirk, the idea of 1000 on a narrow waterway like the Thames fills me with dread...

I want a word with you !

"I can see 1000 skippers shouting at the wife"

Or in my case a very very quiet mumble, in order to avoid any discussions about "things" when MrsOldgit gets me "alone" later on :)

I hope you have made the rules clear on Fenders, standards old boy!

Mmmm.. I thought they fell under the bunting rule 16 of the Flotilla rules of the road exceptions book... Providing said fenders have union jacks either painted/wrapped/glued onto them you may have as many as you wish for the duration of the flotilla circuit? :D
