Can anyone tell me the diameter of the stainless steel tube for a Lofrans Windlass handle?
Old one lost overboard. I imagine they are all the same across the range.
Many thanks.

Assuming the technical drawings you can download from the Lofrans site are to scale, the hole measures 21.5mm.

Excellent. Many thanks.
I went round a few chandlers yesterday but no one stocks one. I know I have a spare somewhere from when I replaced the windlass but you know what it's like. When you need it you can never find it. (Unlike the wife who will know exactly where something is) but I daren't ask anything boaty related.
On to ebay now for some tubing.

I made the assumption that is was this style handle that is needed...

Many thanks.

I have a Kobra but I bet it's the same.
Can anyone access the hole sizes on the Lofrans site and see if the Kobra and Tigres have different sizes?
Many thanks.

actually there are two diametres: the outside one, to insert the handle into the holes on the port side of the windlass, and the internal diametre, where one of the three "spokes" of the brake on the right hand side of the windlass has to fit

Thanks Martin
Unfortunately it doesn't have the all important size :-(
I've just spent the last 30 minutes downloading a dwg viewer.
I've now succeeded in opening their cad drawing but it also doesn't state the size. :-(
So I now have two bits of info.

NigelMercia has got the hole dimension via scaling at 21.5mm
but TQA has the bar diameter at 22mm and the 22mm won't fit in the 21.5mm.
(Or may be they turn down the end.)

I seem to remember the fit on the sprogets was pretty slack so the wall thickness is less important.

So questions for TQA really is how accurately did you measure the 22mm. Could it have been 21.5?

Sorry Martin. Just seen your last comment about different part numbers. That might just be length that's different. Manual v Electric windlass.

Intriguing though.. 7/8" stainless tube is available (just a fraction over 22mm) and motorbike handlebars are often 7/8" so handlebar grips are also easily available to fit!

Just been out with a ruler. I know mine is the Lofrans Royal but the measurements were interesting anyway (and could be useful for future reference)...

Handle
21mm od
17mm id
2mm wall thickness

More interesting was the hole in the windlass...

23mm at the opening tapering to 21mm at the bottom of the hole!

Didn't measure the length accurately but just under 60cm.
