Is anything on next week in the Exmouth - Torbay - Plymouth - Fowey - Falmouth area ? I'm told that there is a Regatta at Falmouth but don't know when it ends. I ask as we don't want our small motor boat to get in the way of you gentlemen.

Falmouth week, like a miniature Cowes week, starts today until 16 Aug.

Come along - its a huge harbour and bay, plentry of room for all with great fun ashore and afloat.

I suggest you keep clear of Plymouth itself for most of the month. Regatta finished a week ago but Fastnet Race finishes 12th - 15th, and there are several National and World Championships going on.
You will be welcome, however, if you slip in through the Bridge Passage between Drake's Island and Cornwall and proceed to various spots up river, e.g. Mayflower Marina, Torpoint, Saltash, Cargreen, Weir Quay, Cotehele Quay and Calstock.

Torbay Regatta and Dartmouth Royal Regatta at the end of the month (22 - 31, I think). Falmouth will be over by the time you will be here. I don't know about Exmouth.

Fowey Regatta is on August 16th to 23rd, good excuse to sample the local bars I think and apparently they ship a giant pasty across the river from Polruan... although this could be something seen only after sampling the local bars to excess...

Fasnet finish explains why QAB all altered when I called in today. We stopped at Mayflower at 2.30 to find that the cafe/bar stopped serving food at 2.00 - brilliant!!
