I have a clipper duet, The Depth keeps showing 64mts to 35mts flicking up & down through the numbers, when I know im only in 2mts of water, can anyone help. Thank you.

I've been told that a mud bottom can give false readings as can turbulent water (e.g. propwash)........I've not experienced it myself though.
It might be worth checking whether the wire(s) from the transducer is routed close to any other wires?.........if it is, try separating them.

I have a NASA Clipper on my wooden dayboat. It works just fine in water deeper than about 5 feet (Old fashioned me)

As you come in to the shallows the reading goes bonkers, may suddenly say 60ft then slowly count back down to 3 or 4 then go haywire again. This is usually if depth is reducing rapidly - when you really want to know /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If the depth reduces very slowly, say when creeping inshore running to get out of a foul tide, it can often behave and I have seen as little as 1ft (Below keel) accurately shown.

As the transducer is through hull it is nothing to do with oil bath. Either turbulence or some odd effect when depth reduces rapidly??

It sounds like the gain setting needs to be adjusted, as it seems you are getting multiple reflections from the mud. Normally you have to press and hold a couple of buttons, but not sure of the sequence for your instrument
