I have a Quicksilver 510 with a draft of 0.3m, basically the engine and want to get a depth gauge for going into little coves etc. and a speed gauge so as not to fall foul of our strict harbour patrol.

Any suggestions?

I think you will have more fun and find more use with a cheap fish finder (£80-£90), work very well at finding depth at speed.

As to speeding in harbours I think a speed log will get you into trouble not out of it.

With a small boat your perceived wash is always going to be an issue before your speed.

Just keep looking behind you.

Due to wash and the illusion of scale speeds you are always at risk of being stopped for speeding and you may as well get used to it. Having a speed log and arguing with harbour patrols will just cause more aggravation.

Just my opinion of course.
