Delivery disaster video

Along with many of you, I've seen the stills, but this is the first time I've come across a video:

Ouch.

The vid has been on here quite a few times :-) The boat was being lifted by two cranes (as is common in ship loading of boats above 60feet or so) driven by two guys who decided not to talk to each other! You say you've seen the stills - you might be mixing it up (?) with the Marquis that was dropped in what looks like a similar setting and shot from same camera angle but that was actually a different incident

Ref Mikesyam's vid of the Squadron 52, here's a Squadron 58 that also went down in Norway. This one was brand new, 2007, on its maiden voyage, having just been collected by its owner that day

Blimey J, at first glance I was shocked by a post of yours showing a pic like that!
Do you know what happened?
I guess that the hook was dropped after the accident?

No, I dont know much detail. It was 2007 ish, and reported in local newspapers in Norway. The story was that it was being driven by new owner for first time and he made a nav error and hit a rock. You can see it has the "scandinavian" optional open pulpit for bow-boarding, and it has clean (brand new) white antifoul. Yes, I guess they must have dropped the anchor as they were sinking. No-one hurt, but such a shame nevertheless. I dont know if the boat was recovered and repaired - I guess it was

Wow! You're entirely right, and I stand happily corrected.

While I hadn't seen the vid (obviously), I was indeed mistaken thinking it was the Marquis (though I had a nagging doubt the Marquis was dropped into clearer water...)

My 2p worth, no for/aft spreader beams, strops not tied off to cleats, one banksmans should control all crane movements and both operators must hoist, lower and jib in/out together a very difficult operation and a very dangerous if tow cranes are being used to spread the weight rather than just spreading the load. I hated tamden lifting when I drove cranes.
