How long does typical road deisel bought at a UK or European garage keep in jerry cans aboard?
Thank you for thisI was just wondering what to do with some diesel I’ve had lying around for the past 8 years in plastic cans in the garage
Is this pre biodiesel? It aintt what used to be, yknow. If you believe the 'Sellers Interests' ..... months .... if you believe me .... as long as you like - keep it sealed, cool and out of strong light ...
You mention Jerry Cans ... so - stick em away in the corner and stop worrying.
Just to give an example :
When I owned and ran the Petro Labs ... clients would give a Sample Retention Requirement ... shortest being 90 days .. longest being indefinite. Such samples were stored as I advise and were often tested long after having been drawn for quality .. still good as first day.
In fact - instead of disposing via usual channels - I used to collect up part of the 'out of date' samples (we used to have 100lts a week) and put to my boats / cars and friends etc.
FYI - Same for Gasoline.
If you do have any concerns - then just mix old with new and keep changing your 'reserve jerry can' stock every so often.
