im looking for info on the dehler 372 1984 vintage.

are they good bad or indifferent. do they sail well or are they a pig!

the 372 seems to have replaced the 37 which looks a bit funny around the aft gunale

all info would be great

I think you'll find that the 37 succeeded the 372. The 372 is quite rare in UK, but they sold a lot of Dehlers in Holland. So you might check out the Dutch owners club website, where they have a section 'How Sails That?' for owner's comments for most models.

Dehler 372

We have owned a 372 for several years. She's a light sea-worthy well-built cruiser with a big main, fin keel and blade rudder. Sails better in lighter airs with a big overlapping genoa than in F5/6 (need to reef early). I think she was designed for a self-tacking jib but ours has not got that. With the wide single spreaders she doesn't have a tight sheeting angle so up wind with a blade jib she's not so close-winded as some. I've seen extra genoa tracks fitted inboard of the shrouds to help and might go the same way one day.

The accomodation is generous but no shower. Lots of storage. The cockpit is not wide. The windscreen is wonderful in heavier weather.

We bought ours in the Baltic and sailed her home, when the Euro was worth 67p.

The twin-rear-cabin 37 is not pretty and carries less canvas. I think the next generation of Dehlers after this (late 80s) sail better but the accomodation may not be quite so comfy.
