Deep water at Watchet again!!!

will my loo still fill with mud when I use it because of the silt? Not very pleasant.

Last time I went I specifically asked that the marina staff not berth me next to the ramp as that would keep me awake all night with people going back n forth to the shower/loo block. I had booked a week in advance. When we arrived they put us at the other end, then without a booking a FL squaddron turned up without booking and they bumped us to the ramp. Very pissed off.

Last time I went the first lock in was at 9.00pm in the evening and the pub stopped serving food at 9.00 and were oblivious and intransigent to the lock in times. Watchet did look very nice though but the management at the pub could have been more aware about tide times. We arrived with several other boaters, probably nearly half the pub's population, we all went hungary.

Which would imply you were using your sea toilet within the marina anyway? Not allowed in many marinas, including, I think, Watchet.

Did you tell them you were annoyed about being moved, and the specific reason why you did not want to be there? I would have thought that if they had known they might have put you somewhere else?

A sea toilet with a holding tank will pull Sea water in and flush into the holding tank

Exactly, I have a holding tank but it pulls in seawater into the bowl first then pumps to the holding tank. Not nice to have a chocolate brown intake. Watchet has potential, it just needs that extra bit of effort imho to make visitors want to return.

There are at least four pubs that serve food, plus several restaurants including a good cantonese. They didn't all stop at nine?!?

For good food also try the Bell..probably better than the Star now.

And coming v v soon, an Indian. Run by the same guys who run the one over the hill in Wiliton which has a cracking reputation, so the food should be amazing.....

We have always find good food there. Need to get there soon. I need to conquer the gate :). Swmbo really likes Watchet.. Or may be it's the company we keep.

FOOD

Had good pub food and beer in the Star and the Bell. Also a great meal in the Chinese restaraunt.Have drunk in most of the other pubs at one time or another probably something to keep most people happy.

Usually have enough food aboard so eating ashore isnt vital.I wouldnt run the engine just to arrive somewhere early enough to eat ashore for example.

for some people the eating and drinking ashore seems to be more important than the sailing/boating to get there.

We like to eat and drink on board ( have you seen the price of diesel!?) of course we usually enjoy the trip but allways glad to get wehere we are going.
Mixture of achievement and relief I think :-)

I had similar experience a while ago and having walked around the entire town can confirm that all the pubs stop serving at 9, the only place you can get food later than that is the chinese. Which is ok by the way.
