deckhead painting

Our yacht has an exposed fibreglass deckhead in the forepeak cabin. (It used to be a crumbly artex-type covering but this has been removed). What can i paint it with that will cover the lumps and bumps of the fibreglass strands and give a nice finish?, and how?
There is a big curve up to the hatch; otherwise I'd use upholstery.
Thanks

parsifal,

No, unfortunately not.

I remember years ago before GRP boats were fitted with lining that the inside of the hull/superstructure was painted with paint that had lots of small pieces of cork in it to provide some insulation and prevent condensation. It may have been the Korkon you refer to. As you suggest, I think this International paint is the current equivalent.

Maybe they use a more modern insulator than cork. Korkon also used to be used to paint the inside of steel ships. As I remember, it had a a rough finish
so keeping it clean was not easy.

When I get the chance I will ask International for some more information about it

Hi- possible solution? no connection, just searched 'camper carpet', this is a random one of lots.

That's what I did and it looks great. Very pleased. The veltrim carpet will stretch to accomodate compound curves.

This looks a better deal if you only have a small area to cover - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5MTR-VAN-..._Accessories&hash=item4aa8526434#ht_737wt_953

No connection other than a satisfied customer.

I lined my Fulmars forecabin with softwood plywood panels that were pushed on to the sides with wooden props and stuck with polyurethane sealant/adhesive.The panels conformed to the compound curves very well. They were painted with matt two pot polyurethane.
The deckhead was covered with plywood panels lined with vinil. It was a bit of work but the result is exceptional.
