Re: wigwam bishop

during the miners strike, Jenkins laid in to Maggie about the general social deprivation in the north east and not just that occasioned by the strike. It followed from children found with wooden or similar footware in Sunderland because their parents could not afford anything else ... no, not a joke and quite believable although the actual subject might have been taken out of context ... whether the NHS ever suggested that they should supply footwear is my load of bollocks in an effort to constructively find a solution to the question you pose in that a pair of wooden clogs would at least eliminate that from the search to establish the source of the offending niff although i do appreciate that, having many friends from L'pool, that the idea of one such loon from that city venturing out in such footwear would ermm ermmm .........

Re: sailbads\'s biological weapons : govt report

After much research, this post summarises the situation regarding Sailbad's feet.

There is no doubt that these represent a clear and present danger. Never mind any 45 minutes - sailbad can remove his socks and shoes in only 45 seconds - releasing untold biological damage to a wide area. He's done it before and he'll do it again. I have seen it . His own family are reduced to vain attempts to burning any items of footwear that they find.

Sailbad himself seems only mildly concerned, and not at all aware of the full effects. He laughably reports that even a member of his own family "decided to get an all over tan" when of course their actions are quite clearly those of someone in utter desperation to stay upwind and avoid being in contact with anygarments that have been in the same wardrobe/washing machine as his own.

The situation was not too bad when his shoes were occasionally changed to go to work. But now he has withdrawn into his lair, not letting in any inspectors as he proceeds to poison his own people. We could sit about all day having a chat about this but i really think something should be done. Also, I believe that he has also been to the bank recently and withdrawn some money.

When weather is so hot that your feet are going to sweat, go barefoot. But make sure you know where every stickyuppy thing on your boat is.

Apart from dusting your shoes with anti-fungal powder before and after you put them on, and wearing cotton socks, clean every day or twice daily if tis really hot... you will not prevent this problem. Some people are not 'sweaters' some others are.

Do you have an underarm problem too? If yes, the barefoot or powder. If no, then cotton socks.

:)-)

I have tried sandals aboard, but I found that the gap between my toes and the front of the sandals was liable to pick up stray ropes, and I nearly fell on several occasions.

If the normal anti-fungal powder doesn't work then yellow sulphur is recommended for stopping fungal growths on bulbs (daffs, tulips etc.) You can get it from any garden centre, but it might sting a bit, not to mention burn holes in your socks. Alternatively you could stand in a bowl of oxalic acid solution overnight, that seems to be the recommended cure for most things.
Hope this helps...

Well, if we are going to do things properly, ordeal by fire is probably the ultimate!! Give your feet a good going over with a blowlamp, concentrating particularly on the thin little bits between the toes. Then turn your attention to the shoes... be strong here, don't give up just because you smell rubber burning, and the toes of the shoes start to bend back towards the heels. They will never smell again! :)-)

I too used to have a problem with smelly feet, then i acquired a holding tank and the smelly feet problem became irrelevant.

Re: But....

I heard on TV once that a personal valet recommended a 10% ammonia solution in shoes works wonders.

No idea if its true but it sounds along the right lines.

Put the offending shoes in the freefer for three days at least. This will kill all the bacteria. Repeat as necessary

Freezing doesn't kill bacteria. It simply stops them multiplying, and they go into hibernation. Which is why freezing is a good food preservative.

When you take something out of the freezer, the bacteria are still there and alive, and will re-commence multiplying

I can't believe that a thread about sailbads stinky feet has got to 4 pages, but hey what ever floats your boat.
No, bacterium will survive being frozen. Raising the temp to around 65 degrees centigrade will kill most. There are a few that will need the temp rising to around 80 odd degrees. So if you put said dodgy smelling shoes in a hot wash in the machine that is capable of 90 degrees you solve the problem.

But surely this is all academic seeing as buying new pair of rythmn and blues is whole lot easier. 'cos if you've lived and died in them for the pungentcey to get to this level, they must surely be totally shagged.

Put a pair of sandals and a pair of trainers in a hot wash a month or so back. Always worked a charm in the past.

This time they ended up two sizes too small /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

By the way, some bacteria will survive over 100 deg at pressure. Little buggers.

Ah some may survive the heat and pressure. That is until they meet Sailbads plates! But you know what these raggies are like. Never wash, never shave and you can see what they had for breakfast yesterday by looking at their beards!

After constant exposure to Sailbads feet, I suspect these particular microbes have probably evolved into a species capable of surviving nuclear Ahrmageddon, and are even now planning on taking over the world.
