Deben entrance - watch it!

Notes posted on both East Coast Pilot and East Coast Sailing this morning, following a request from John White to remind folk about care needed at the entrance.

Went into the Deben a couple of weeks ago early on the flood and stuck like a limpet to the line between the two buoys and all was well. Rather than look for a transit on shore I keep almost as careful a look out backwards as forwards to maintain the line.

The little known benefits of a ketch - line the buoys and the masts up! Two weeks ago we came in at LW+2 and always had 1.5m+ under the 1.4m keel. Didn't feel enough though! Keeping the line was tricky on the flood as it raced past the bar.

Entered the Deben Monday 3 hours before HW and stuck rigidly to the buoyed line looking behind me all the time in no less than 3m of water.
Came out Thursday about HW +30 no problems.
Just as I was rounding Landguard, I heard a Dutch chap on the radio calling up and attempting to enter on the ebb, not sure if he made it?
