The survey today turned up water in starboard drive, leaking port steering arm joint and all four props damaged. Also I noted quite a bit of side to side play in the legs. Surveyor says its not too bad and they all have play in them.

That’s all pretty standard for outdrives and can easily be fixed.

It’s the consumer rights act..... It is UK law how can that be set aside

Also I think the Consumer rights act is 6 months

Apart from all this Russ it is about time you bought that boat

What do U.K. car traders mean when they say “ trade sale “ “ sold as seen “ on stuff they have ( like a boat ) taken in part ex ?
And how does come back work at car auctions ( outside 24 hrs ) when traders not private’s individuals shove a car through .
Say a large Co like Pendragon peddling high end stuff out of manufacturers warranties ?

Although paid for by the dealer as they needed to know the condition of their stock boat before the sale. Which raises the question, do I have my own survey after all the repair work has been carried out?

“ All have play in them “ yes they do when the steering hood bushes and the hood shaft is worn.
What he didn’t tell you is that is some cases if the steering arm won’t detach from the hood the engine has to be removed to carry out the work .

If the drive oil of emulsified there is a chance the shafts are scored which requires either a new gear kit or new lower half of the drive .

Sounds like there is plenty of work to be done before it’s useable.
