The davits on the new boat have a loading of 80KG, would that be each or combined, each davit has 80kg on it though, previous owner seems to think its combined, my rib and outboard weigh 88Kg am I looking at trouble if it is combined or would there be a bit of leeway, previous chap reckons as you come of the plane some inertia forces come into play and if your overweight the davits could be ripped out.

Your davits will have a capacity of 80kg each but the accepted wisdom is that the total load on both davits should not exceed the capacity of one davit (to take account of additional dynamic loading when the boat is slamming in a rough sea). So, in theory, you are 10% over the accepted limit which should'nt be a problem providing the davits and their fixings are in good order but worthwile removing as much weight as possible - maybe take out the fuel tank and oars. Also a good idea to remove the outboard altogether if you know you are going to encounter rough seas

Also get a cover so you dont top up with water in bad weather, as that will quickly put you over the top.

Good point although you should always leave the drain bung out as well
