Davit Straps

I'm trying to get hold of some straps of some description that I can place round my inflatable instead of davit lifting points. I've tried IBS no joy. Any other suggestions I'm tired of lifting the bloody thing onto the roof!!

Depending on the davit manufacturer (eg Cooney/Simpson and Whittall), they usually sell purpose made lifting straps

If you have davits, straps wont work. You need to suspend the dinghy from the lowest points in the dinghy. Or it will hang at half mast, if indeed it leaves the water at all!!

The davits on my freeman are very short, just can't get the dinghy to hang correctly, I'm thinking some sort of strap/cradle may help.

Have you got a bathing platform ??

If so then put the ropes to the far side of the dingy and rest the side closet to the stern on the platform. Then pull the dingy upwards - acts a bit like snap davits but resting between the stern and platform. Works a treat.

I had a Freeman 32 with similarly short davits (Freeman's own).
I used to hang the inflatable (not RIB) with one tube resting on top of the davit arms so it was sort of vertical to the transom. Various ropes/ straps could then be attached to secure it.
Worked very well.

Yes that was my first intention, the only snag is the dinghy I have is 40kg I'm not quite strong enough to physically lift it over the davit arm. The only other thought is to put a davit lifting point on the dinghy but place it off-centre so that it automatically tilts when lifted. Just unsure wether this will work.

The other option is to sell both boats and buy a caravan. (only joking)!!

Just change the dinghy.
I could lift my old Zodiac 285 Cadet with one hand, and that was about 10 years ago.

The dinghy was brand new in March, bit of a short sighted purchase had a bathing platform on the old boat so it wasn't a problem, until I changed to the freeman, I'll experiment this weekend if no joy they'll be a cheap Quicksilver inflatable for sale!!
