if you are still thinking of using it on the clyde then Im sure that you realize you will be limited to the days you can use a sub 21 foot speedboat. I had the 232 (like yourself) and it could sometimes get uncomfortable.

My friend has a Bikini (smaller version of the Bounty) which has a decent 150hp motor and good trailer. He paid £2800 for it 2 years ago. His oppinion is that £4k is OTT for a 20 year old Bounty.

For comparison, there is a hardly used 20 ft Bayliner cuddy with a fully serviced, 3 litre Mercruiser V6 inboard, on a decent galvanised trailer, for £6495 in Essex Marine boat yard(advertised also on Ebay). A totally better buy for the money than the Bounty in my oppinion. But it's your money. At the very least, you need to check out the competition first before you part with that sort of cash. If I could afford to run a V6 petrol, I'd be out there depleting the ozone layer. Instead, I chug sulphur and soot into the evening sun-set with my smelly old diesel /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We've had quite a few Fletcher's over the years. As mentioned above the 17ft inboards are the ones to go for in your budget. Avoid the BMW version-nice colour scheme but poor reliability and difficult to source parts (well more difficult than Mercruisers). The 17GTS has the highest freeboard of any non cuddy model and decent seating for 5. Performance OK - 40kts- depending on prop.

They do weigh a lot, since most were hand laid the brochure weights can be miles out. 4x4 will be an advantage on slips.

As a bonus second hand prices for these boats are strong, look after it and you will get most of your money back.

There are also some outboard versions (GTO) about, they weigh less and servicing can be cheaper.

Yes, I think our move to the clyde is quite a way off, now we are boatless.

We are going to hold off for a few years before we buy something bigger, meantime I'd like a little run about, yes mainly for the Loch, but i suppose if the weathers good, we can take it into Largs bay, but i doubt that would happen that often.

You already for the season?

Hi Alistair,
Just read your page on Dateline Bounty/Bikini. I have a Dateline Bikini with a 90hp Evinrude which is the perfect setup for skiing & watersports. I find it very easy to launch/load which can be done single handed quite easily it is a very agile boat in the water & is quite a headturner. the boat is garaged when not in use, flushed, cleaned, serviced & kept polished. I am selling mine at present if you are interested I can email you with some pictures ( I'm finding it difficult to put a pic on this page). Please email me on mhrogers@btconnect.com for further info. Hope this might help!

Is this boat a dateline does anyone know??

Hi all,

Have this boat up on a few forums trying to find out if anyone know the maker?

I was told it was a tremlett hence the name on the bow but today someone had mentioned it might be a Dateline?????????

any ideas or can anyone confirm?

Been offered this boat for £4k, its a 1988, with probably the origional engine, could that be a problem, is the boat over priced??

All opinions and views very much appreciated.

Cheers

Al.

If the boat is solid and the motor running correctly go for it before the summer is out.
Just check the motor for corrosion and compressions plus clean gearbox oil and dont forget if originally sold by Harry Kitchenor no outstanding finance

Well it is not a Tremlett 21 like the sticker on the Bow says. looks more like a Plancraft Sabre if around 17ft long. Can you confirm length? That will help us narrow her down.

Bit off the beaten track with this one, but does any one know where I could get hold of a screen for one of these Dateline Bountys ?

hi Fuzzy.. everyone.. my first post..

Re screen :
You may need to make one... I have a couple of ideas about this.. whereabouts are you?

my question to you is, is your boat the same as mine.. I bought mine 4 weeks ago and I am not sure of it's make / model. I suspect it's a dateline, and a bounty or bikini..

I will put a pic up in a while

Welcome to the forum John

The post you've replied to is a year old, and he only ever made one post, so he is very unlikely to see your reply.

I'm sure someone on here can help to idenfify your boat though, if you put up a picture.
