The last two posts I have made on this forum have been tagged as trolls.
Iam still a little bemused as to what a troll is but one poster added 'sick joke' which helped clarify the sentiment.
Neither of the posts were intentionally 'set ups' on my part.
Further if we remove April 1st posts I cant recall ever making such a post here.

Several years ago I posted on Slurry soda treatments causing holes in boats which caused a barrage of objections and it is now pretty much recognised as a serious issue.

Several years ago I posted on D4 issues including sinking issues but stopped as it was causing ill feeling, many recalls, updates have been made since my posts.

Several years ago I posted a campaign about IPS drives ( I wasnt alone in posting concerns)and have been proven right.

4-5 years ago I posted about flexible couplings and how to check for cracks and again a few weeks ago after suggesting Wiggos should be checked.

In the past I have dropped many issues and not gone on to explain the full situation, the reason I have done this isnt because I was wrong, it was to save other forum members from embarrassment, when I warn a forum member of a potential issue with a Hurth ZF drive and he posts that I am an idiot because he has a Volvo Penta Velvet drive on his boat , just for a quiet life I dont bother to explain to him that VP dont make gear boxes, they just paint the Hurth ZF one Green and charge £3000 for the paint job !
So I set a challenge for anyone to find a post of mine that is a troll without substance, you choose one and I will justify it and explain exactly how the post came about, if it contains sensitive information I may choose a poster of repute to disclose the technical detail to by pm.
 
Actually, I'm only posting that as a troll. I enjoy what you've got to say. I think people don't always see that your presentation of some issues is occasionally deliberately thought-provoking and mistake that for trollism - nearly said troilism, but that's a bit rude. :eek:

I dont think your posts do any of that. If no one posted a view that might appose anothers it would be the worlds most boring forum!!!

Maybe they think you live on the end of a pencil and have green hair!!! Showing my age now :)

You can pm the post to any forum member or post it yourself saying it has come to you by pm.

I will answer and explain my post which you believe to be a lie (if it is sensitive I may choose a reputable forum member to confide in).
I may well admit to being wrong, mistaken or just a dummy but I cant ever remember lying about anything through out my life save Father Christmas and the tooth fairy .
 
I really doubt if anyone thinks you actually lie, but if you put it as an option on a poll some people will select it just for the hell of it.

The internet is just a bunch of pixels filled with people that the majority of you will never meet or know. Who cares what a radom forumite thinks?
 
In my experience on here, the forumites most inclined to get excited and call other posters Trolls are in fact trolls themselves and are just jealous they didn't think of the wind-up first. :rolleyes:
 
I voted troll purely on the basis of this vain and attention seeking thread.

Maybe take things less seriously or pull people up on stuff as and when rather than preparing a little virtual courthouse and donning a small wig made of toilet roll middles.

Are you swinging a gavel in your groin area at the mo?

There isnt always time, I post as I see it and get on with my work, check in an hour later with someone calling me a troll but often too busy and just let it go.

I assume as no examples have been given then every one is satisfied at the accuracy of my posts, in which case I will post how my anchor windlass got jammed when a snake crawled into it and jammed it...........with 60+ meters of chain out :eek:
second thoughts, I will wait to see if the photos are clear enough to use as evidence..........

You were completely correct on the dual battery charge thing but the guy with the VSR didn't want to know. Don't give up though - your efforts weren't wasted on the plenty of people who read your explanations and found them very clear and useful. And as for Mr VSR, he was some pixels, as someone said above :-)
