There was a well known yacht here in palma a while back called FUJIMO. I always thought it had some japanese oriign until someone told me the real story, appartently the wife (Jackie) of the owner had become more and frustrated with him spending more and more money and time on his nautical passion and issued him with an ultimatum, if he bought another boat it would end in divorce. He resisted for a while until the pull of the sea became too great and he bought another even larger yacht..................the name stood for F**k You Jackie I'M Off!

Our last boat was named, by us, SNAFU. This caused the CG to choke when we called one day ! Someone else asked who'd named the boat and breathed a sigh of relief when we admitted to it.

The other one I like is from a Sadler 26 - they wanted full GB registration and therefore needed a unique name. After many attempts only to find that the name was already taken, wife was typing up insurance claim where husband had hit their gatepost with car. Trying to decipher scrawl she asked "Does this say Stout Blue Caterpillar ?" "No, but I'll bet no-one has got a boat with that name" and they were right. We saw her in Cowes some years later with the name running all the way round the cockpit on dodgers - port, stern, starboard - to accommodate the long name !

a pragmatist is an optimist with a boat in the UK - but serious about not being in the UK !

There was a Powerboat in Northney called the "The Office"; made for a good excuse when called by SWMBO, I guess, to find out where the owners was.

To err is human, to really screw up you need a boat

Two that were about in Salcombe many years ago. A crabber called LLAMEDOS and a yacht belonging to a Brixham Coastguard called EMMA ROYDE.

The Yard bill went up in leaps and bounds during construction and when launched she floated well below her marks.

Her name was: OVERDRAFT
