Is anyone going to Düsseldorf this coming Wednesday? I'm flying up from Zurich for the day and it would be nice to meet anyone who's going

Went today. Can see why there are hardly any boats at LIBS.
Bring trainers. It's massive. The seascape photography and art area is bigger than the yacht area at Excel. Yachts from atb least 40 manufacturers to climb over.

I was there on Saturday from 10:30 until 17:30, and ran out of time toward the end. I found the accessories and equipment more interesting, than the yachts. Prioritise the companies you want to talk to and group them logistiacly together so you don't have to double back, like me wasting time.

Great to hear good reports - getting quite excited now! Not so excited at the prospect of getting up at 3.30 am tomorrow, mind - I wonder whose bright idea that was. Oh wait.... <doh>

I'm leaving at 4:30 and crossing my fingers the flight will fly. Going to be spending he next three days working there photographing and videoing all that's new in the yachting and mobile world and feasting on pig and beer in the evenings

Driving over Saturday morning, have two-day passes and a hotel in Dusseldorf booked. Really looking forward to it, especially after going to LIBS the other week!

You must try Die Uerige in the old town for the authenticate experience, with beer from own on-site brewery - if your glass is emtpy as a waiter walks past it WILL BE filled up, unless you put a beermat over it. Enjoy.

, the no photo is usually in the arty bit, but there were plenty of camera phones being waved about today.Accreditation also allows free use of public transport, food in the press centre is supplemented, so lunch for two with soft drinks was €9! A really good show to visit, I'm really surprised more brits don't make the effort. It's how I remember boat shows were when I was young.

I had the same login problems as everyone else yesterday, hence the belated reply.
I had no issue taking pics all over the place on Wednesday, but I guess a little point-and-shoot is less likely to put people's backs up than a professional SLR...
Yes! That was exactly my impression! I'm so glad I made the effort to go, I only got round half of it in a day (the advice to wear comfy shoes was spot on, thanks) - huge doesn't even start to describe it - but I'll definitely be going again next year.

Exactly. I spent Monday and Tuesday there and in some ways it reminded me of Earls Court back in the good old days when I was young and sailing boats seemed to dominate.
The show is vast. Even getting from the sailing halls to the equipment halls is quite a trek. I wore a pedometer and clocked almost 25 km over the two days. Last time I went to Düsseldorf, I made the mistake of wearing an old pair of docksiders. This time it was 'sensible' walking shoes.
