Was anyone shocked, or even slightly surprised when the Government increased the fish quotas?
Am I being extremely cynical in thinking that this could be our wonderful (sic) Lords and Masters way of softening the blow of an increase in Red Desiel duty?

I think you could have a point, but if our fishermen and women did what the French do, ie block ports, roads, etc I am sure the Thought Police may reconsider. As an idea if the Fishermen wont do it maybe we all should??

I think the good (or rather more accurately the less bad news) news was from The EU rather than HMG and as has been said red diesel will remain for fishing boats.

What is unbelievable is leaving Blunket and pooch in his company house and with his company transport. The quick photo opportunity visit to Iraq was probably predictable. Then there is the Israeli - Palestinian conference planned in London in February which won't be attended by Israel..... The election is coming.

Oh and by the way Mr T B.Liar, will the collective amnesia apply again when explanations of a holday stay with a tobacco baron are made?

I was a bit surprised, as most opinions are that the fish stocks in certain areas are at the point of collapse.
Quite frankly the only way I can see around this is to scrap species limits altogether along with size limits, then give each trawler its own total catch limit and that they land all fish they catch irrespective of size or species, it will save 85% of each trawl being thrown back dead !! Processing plants will have to change procedures, and the general public it's eating habits, and prices will rise, painfull medicine but IMHO necessary.
