I was in bed with my early morning cuppa one (most) morning(s) last week and there was no where to put it down. What I could do with is a cup holder or shelf or something so I don't have to put the cup down on the matress or prop it up in a corner.

It can't be a unique problem, what have other folk come up with?

I'm not brilliant at wood work so if the answer is a shelf, I would be looking for a pre-made one.

I ask the Butler to hold it :D

I judge how serious a yachtsman is about sailing by seeing how many safe places there are to stow a glass or beer can in his cockpit.:)

I'm always first up and make the tea, so mine is drunk standing up while I peer anxiously out of the window to see how far we've dragged in the night.

Madam's is put on the floor next to her bunk.

This took me 10 minutes one evening this winter as I was fed up having to wedge cups and bottles to stop them sliding around the cockpit....

I made it from slats left over from little'uns old pine bed - it's rough and ready but it does the job.... attaches to the boat via a couple of joinery blocks..

On my first sailing course the skipper made tea (too early IMO) as a deliberate way of getting you out of your bunk. There was nowhere safe to put the mug, so an additional snooze was out of the question unless you wanted a wet sleeping bag.

You may have something there. Mum provided tea way too early but we managed to be deaf until 09:00 when we had to get up.

We are talking about the V berth in the forepeak on the Espace, I can't reach the floor from bed, the same applies on our Centaur but the shelf round the cabin on that is easier to use when some beverage has been drunk.

I like the tripple holder in teak, can put me glasses in the middle over night instead of under the pillow.

The folding teak cup holder is similar to what I thought I might be stuck with, but I thought it would be black plastic and a bit "car" for on a boat.

Thanks for the food for thought.
