Please don’t encourage him.You can get a free login to Cummins Quick Serve Online, enter your engine number and you can see all the manuals.
Yes…the engine does need to come out…I’m just getting it in early this timePlease don’t encourage him.
With a Bendy toy, just turn the boat upside down ,if the rings are passing oil will come out.I want to take the rocker cover off to clean the oil coming out of the breather......in the hope that it’s only oil left over from the engine service.....and not oil coming up from the sump through the rings. So I was hoping for a nice exploded diagram so that I don’t find anything surprising that I wasn’t expecting
Not sure if you’ve tried this.. If I’m looking for any info Cummins marine related, I start here… Cummins QSB 6.7 SpecificationsI want to take the rocker cover off to clean the oil coming out of the breather......in the hope that it’s only oil left over from the engine service.....and not oil coming up from the sump through the rings. Why do you need to take rocker cover off to clean externally?I want to take the rocker cover off to clean the oil coming out of the breather......in the hope that it’s only oil left over from the engine service.....and not oil coming up from the sump through the rings. The oil is coming out of the breather hole....so I need to clean the oil inside....if I remove all trace of the oil and it still comes out...then I might be in troubleWhy do you need to take rocker cover off to clean externally?

Don’t have the Ipad you might need an engine.I have actually got the free parts manual to download....it turned out the reason I couldn’t download it before is that my iPad is woefully out of date. It did successfully download on my IPhone Mini....unfortunately I really struggle to see it because the screen is so small...for some reason I thought that having a phone that fits easily in my pocket was the only useful buying criteria. The wife said I can have a new IPad.....perhaps she feels sorry for my enfeebled state
Thank you everyone for your useful assistance......![]()
Yes, I wasn’t planning to polish the rockers or anything drastic…just to see if it is due to overfilling during the last service…if the oil is coming up through a cylinder then there is troubleOil inevitably ends up in the rocker cover as it escapes from the parts under the cover that are being lubricated, as such you cannot clean it out and hope for it to remain clean...... oil splashes around inside it normally however if there is oil coming out of the breather its being pushed out by pressure of air and gases.

Why don't you send the download from your phone to your ipad then you can read it?I have actually got the free parts manual to download....it turned out the reason I couldn’t download it before is that my iPad is woefully out of date. over filling will show up on the dipstick won't it.....as soon as you pour it in the rocker cover it runs down into the sump even on the coldest day oil entering the rocker cover will end up in the sump within 60 seconds-its all connected-however if you have oil coming out of the breather its being pressurised by the engine internals as they rotate-you need to look at the breather system as a whole and see what is making the engine internals pressuriseYes, I wasn’t planning to polish the rockers or anything drastic…just to see if it is due to overfilling during the last service…if the oil is coming up through a cylinder then there is trouble
