The masthead block should be hung forward of the mast from a 'crane' this stops
the chute's halyard from chafing on the forestay, as the chute will have a tendency
to swing about.
Try goosewinging downwind with a 'preventer' on the mainsail.
If you use a pole its length for a chute should = 1.5J
Lowering on autopilot in a fresh breeze can be fun, since the balance of boat alters
as the chute comes down and the autopilot will not anticipate the change and does
always respond quickly enough.
