I have come across the site called Cruiserwiki. It is a derivative of the Cruiserforum

It has the potential to be a fantastic source of up to date information. It is easy to edit. I have just added information on Ragusa and Olbia. For some ports there is some baseline information that seems to have been lifted from a standard pliot book. However smaller details need adding to make it really work

So, the aim of this post is to spread the word and to encourage fellow forumnites to contribute and share their knowledge.

OK I registered and received my username and password today. Spent the last 2 hours doing my marina in Deganwy here. Work in progress but it wasn't too difficult so lets all give it a go!

Another project that could do with some support is Open Sea map. A collaborative 'wiki' style chart.

It's not very good (yet) but give it five years and lot's of volunteer support and it could be a really good project.

Similar to that, but organised by sea area, rather than by country, is my site. But my site, being limited to Europe (south of the Channel at the moment) can do more detail. Additions to the site can be made by adding "comments" to pages.

There's lots of great stuff out there. All free! And of variable quality . . .

Thanks for bringing the wikitravel site to light. I found it really useful when cruising Greece, and consequently updated the Kuwait page (which had the standard port info) with local knowledge for incoming cruisers. It's the tidbits that make a huge difference! Hopefully one day it will be every bit as good as wikipedia.
