I can assure you that as somone younger than you, the universal opinion of any sailor I have ever met is an absolutely unequivical "Those things are hideous!"

Really, really ugly.

Jeez some people know how to moan!

For once in my life, I was ahead of the fashion curve and bought last year on a sailing holiday. Absolutely brilliant summer deckshoes. (Comfort and safety!) More, I started wearing them round the house so needed / wanted to buy another pair this year for sailing. (Now have two pairs)

Ugly. Who knows, I bow to your knowledge. However, people that think they are ugly may have feedback over other things I wear, and guess what, I care little.

Cost? For goodness sake get a life. Comfort and safety for £25, or loads of dosh for something that looks more substantial and achieves less? I know what makes sense to me.

Just please be aware these are not just any old plastic shoes. No smell and can be work all day!

So to the original question, I think they make great summer deckshoes.

Off soap box!

Don't know what happens in the dishwasher but all Croc Haters (and I'm NOT one of them) love this:

Cutting Crocs

BTW I'm not allowed near the dishwasher anymore since SWMBO found an SU double carburettor in there...

Ugliness is relative. I am ugly when compared to Brad Pitt, but not when compared to Shane McGowan.

You're right, Crocs are still ugly. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well exactly!

But when you look like I do you have to choose your clothing to enhance your look, not make you look like you chose to melt down a child's barbie doll and stick it to your feet.

Does that make me a snob? Maybe, but I still wouldn't put a pair of those hideous monstosities even if they were the best deck shoes ever!

Similar to Jellies apart from the cost............. £30.
Cost of manufacture probably less than 50p.

I bought a pair of Crocs under the impression they would be great foot wear on board!
First time on, I overbalanced as I boarded from quayside and heel strap detached itself causing me to fall onto the guardwires, fall out of shoe, roll over the guard wires with arm wrapped around rigging wire and land heavily on deck!
Not my most elegant manoevre in public
Shoe was blown overboard ... so i can verify they float!
Quick reactions by my daughter retrieved the floating shoe. They were promptly returned to the car for safe keeping... now wear them in the office only.
...They are v comfy if somewot sweaty with hot feet. but wont be buying another pair!
