Cristec charger

Had one OEM on a 2002 Jeanneau. Not impressed. Very bad cable borne noise, poor choice of voltages, crude timed only boost that would restart after momentary mains interruption.
Would definitely avoid if possible.
Maybe they have better new models, I don't know, but leopards rarely change their spots.
My present boat has Mastervolt, very good so far.
I'm also impressed by the Quick chargers as used by Bav (well around 2006 they were, don't know if they still do.)

I'm sorry about the link it worked when I put it up, but I can't reach any of the French sites now.
The reason I ask is that I met a French lady at our hotel who was representing them on their stand and got into conversation with her. She said the currency movements had made trading more difficult with UK customers and she was concerned about the future when we leave the EU.
I'd never heard of them before but looked them up and they seem to be a major manufacturer and have the USP of silent operation.

My Jeanneau of 2005 has a Cristec 25a. It does emit a lot of EMC noise, and is crude voltages. However, putting it through the Sterling A-B unit takes away the obvious charge mode faults, It does allegedly have a 3 stage smart charge algorithm.

It also has a range of voltages - here is a link to the manual http://www.cristec.fr/images/stories/documents/cps3-1m-2m-deb.pdf
Page 22 of 80 is where they are shown.
This manual is for units manufactured before 2011.

I haven't changed it because although it affects the HiFi system, I dont find it annoying enough to blow 500 quid on a superior device.

Mine was the earlier version CPS not CPS3, http://www.cristec.fr/en/our-products/out-of-date-products/cps-chargers.html

I had the charger (Dolphin?) on my boat fail while on a cruise to S Brittany a few years ago and the only available charger 'off the shelf' of a suitable size was a Cristec CPS3 40A - has done the job very well. No problems with EMC noise and the silent operation is a real bonus.

Yes it is nice that they are silent, but that's the only good thing I can say about the one I had.
It sounds as though later models are improved.

I've got two 2015 models: 100 amp unit for the domestics and a 30amp for the engine/thruster batteries. Work really well. Replaced two sterlings that were both less than 3 years old and a complete waste of money with no back up from Sterling.

So,recommended from me. Speak to Rod at Advance Yachts Systems (no,connection - just a happy customer)
