Have you considered getting a Monzo card -just add on 2 it whatever cash you want -it’s not a credit card so it needs a positive balance but can be credited with a small amount say £50 for drinks etc .Next you down load the Monzo app to your new phone. You can you make payments using your phone and approve card payments by touching your phone with your finger . It’s really far simpler than paying by banks like Barclays with their separate readers etc. other challenger banks like Resolut and Starling exist which I’m sure offer same stuff -they don’t replace main line banking but for simple payments with limited risk particularly when abroad say Monzo is way to go.

I haven't used Monzo, and have only tried (unsuccessfully I should add) Resolut once, but I've been a (very happy) Starling user for several years now and see no reason why they couldn't be a main bank account. Historically I've kept my direct debits elsewhere for the 'perks', but if I had to reduce to one account, it would be Starling.
