Re: From the Thames

My first racing dinghy was 'Tipitup', whic I did. The tender to the family cruising boat (pre Avon days), which lived inverted on the coachroof was 'Tipitin'. One of my latter racing dinghies (a Cherub) was 'A Question of Balance' - which was tricky, and a Laser called 'Cant remember', which used to irritate race officers every time. Then there was a Fireball (Brown Trousers) and a brief flirtation with an FD 'Deficit Finance'.

Re: Oh heck!

There used to be a boat in Pwllheli called "Hidden Assets" with an extremely tasteful picture of a very large chested woman, who was most certainly not hiding her assets, next to the name. Nice.

Who said powerboaters weren't classy!

The best boat name

I ever saw was 'Even Charlie'
It belonged to Charlie, a former Commode of Morecambe and Heysham Yacht Club who heard 2 members talking at the bar.
One said "How did you get on today?"
and the other replied "Bloody awful - even Charlie beat me"

Sorry this is witty again, but have you seen the rather racy looking number just up from Suncoast at Duquesa emblazoned with "Falcon L" on both sides. Must be a hoot on spanish vhf.

Also haven't got many big bills in yet with good old Damn but am about to name the kids little inflateable saily thing "Blow the Expense", and the tender "More Expense tt etc". We really do get a lot of smiles and agreeing nods with the name though, nice ice breaker too.

Normally shouting to get my attention is pretty useless unless it starts something like "Oi you big fat d***head!" All the very best, good thread. Paul
