Just about to buy a 2001 Cranchi 28cls with twin volvo kad 32s. I can't find the specs on how many miles the boat will do or consumption figures. What would be the best cruising speed for fuel economy.
I would like to change the hob to gas but I wonder where the gas locker is or can I fit one.
Can I buy a replacement teak piece for the bow or would I have to have one made.
Any other information would be helpful. Thanks

If I was lucky enough to buy a 2001 Cranchi with twin Volvo Diesels worrying about fuel consumption would be the last thing I would worry about. Where it is going to be kept and how much that would cost would be more important to me.

I quite like them (it's CSL and not CLS by the way) but would say that's it's more of a Med day boat than a fully fledged overnighter that you could spend a week on board. A lot of boat for the money though.

If you can't get details of range, etc then I have figures for a KAD32 Targa 29 at home which will be largely similar.

I have no idea whether you can get an OEM piece of teak for the front but if you could make a template then Wattsons would be able to make a replacement panel for you (£300-400 I'd imagine).

Pete

This is for one engine, so two engines would be somewhere around 35-40 Litres per hour at a fast cruise.

After working most of my life 6 days a week thought I would treat myself. The real reason for wanting the fuel consumption figures is the delivery trip from Majorca to mainland Spain is over 140m so I want to know if I need to pull into Ibiza to fuel up.

If you are passing Ibiza in a boat not known to you I would fill up.

Full in mallorca ( andraxt is closest ). Full in Ibiza. You then know with confidence

A the consumption per hour

B whilst I would not rely on it - is the fuel gauge vaguely realistic ?

Stay over night. It will cost but it’s a long day on a small boat.

340 litre tank
Leave 20% reserve
272 litres

38 litres/hr at 25kts = 7 hours endurance
7 hours at 25kts = 175 Nm.

I’d stop at Ibiza, have a break, hit a decent restaurant, refuel, and carry on in the morning
