Cracked Windscreen

Anyone have any suggestions as to where to get a replacement windscreen for my Fletcher 19GTS? I managed to crack the right hand curved windscreen panel yesterday.

If it was flat I would just get something made locally, but it is a curved diamond shaped piece of glass.

no idea, however failing that, how about these vans that come at your place and fix/glue/whatever your windscreen on the spot? Wonder if it's going to be cheaper/easier.
Need to use them for two chippings on my car's windscreen but I remember reading they can fix almost everything.

if the glass is laminated not impossable to have repaired.
but it will have to be drilled to get the resin in,which will leave small mark's in the glass ( the resin is injected through the impact point when a stone chip's a car windscreen).
you may still see the orignal crack at certen angle's when repaired.
if you just lefted the crack it would just run until it got to another edge.
over a peroid of time you may find that the glass will go milky and start delamanating.
i would price up a new glass if the manufacture's can still get them.

How easy is it to bend polycarbonate or arclix into shape?

The crack heads off in three directions and the glass is completely broken - ie the windscreen is now in three bits.

if you say it's currently in three pieces, means it's not laminated, nothing to loose by asking...

Is the company still in business? I'd get it off them
Else I recon you have to find someone locally that does fancy things with polycarbonate and get him the frame to do the bending/matching.
However, I doubt it's going to last that long in the med sun. Give it 5-6years

any kind of perpex will bend real easy into the frame..
some scratch easier than others though..
but will be cheap to change every couple of years.

it your glass isnt laminated you cant repair with the system on youtube(or car type).

You can still but them direct from Fletcher, but they are eye wateringly expensive.

Give Fletcher a ring on 0845 230 5670, they are very helpful but can be slow to respond and might need chasing.

As said previously your first contact should be with the original builder who should be able to give you the info needed or even supply a screen.

Recently had to change a curved section of my screen which is similar in size/style to yours. Taylor made screens made the one for our boat. They already had the sizes etc so made to order but not cheap. If it is a Taylor made screen there will be a logo etched in the screen in one corner. They make screens for an awful lot of boat manufacturers so they maybe worth a call. Although their an American company they have a base in Ireland where my screen came from. Mine was an insurance claim thankfully as the cost was best part of £1500 fitted

+1 for the call to Fletcher as they're still a current model.

There have been some changes to the screen recently, but both look very similar so glass perhaps the same? Even if that screen isn't current, the factory/stores is reputed to be an Aladin's Cave of parts and they'll have the contacts for whoever made the original. Definitely call rather than email - like most marine companies I've encountered, electronic communications still seems a bit hit & miss at times! (Sorry Andy )

Out of curiosity, is your screen waterproof? There seems to be a number of issues with water ingress around the screen on those and also the earlier Lewmar hatches (now discontinued to make matters worse!)

Lovezoo, I suggest you check the manufacturer of the windscreen, and try to buy a replacement. It could be Trend Marine, who are the main UK supplier of marine glass. They will be able to replace. There should be some sort of identification in the corner of the screen.

I had exactly the same problem on my Bayliner a couple of years ago.
One of the curved sections shattered whilst in storage.
Cost of replacement fitted through the local Bayliner dealer was £2700!!!
Insurance covered it, amazingly without question.
It was Taylor Made and they refused to ship glass only so had to purchase the whole screen section frame and all.
It took most of the summer to sort so I used a sheet of Makrolon (polycarbonate trade name), to get by, and frankly if it hadn't been for the insurance I would have left it there, you couldn't tell the difference. I think the materials cost about £60 or so.
But it was easy to cut and bend.
As for scratches, over the six months I used it there were no visible deteriorations so I would recommend it, measure the glass thickness so you match it and it should fit snuggly.

Going back several posts, Polycarbonate and all the other plastic variants such as acrylic are very easy to shape using a hot air gun.

But you would be strongly advised to find one of the boat window specialists who can preform the window for you using "drape moulding" and the old window as a pattern

You'll then pay for the finished article.
If you attempt DIY moulding you will pay for a fresh piece of polycarbonate or acrylic for every time you f*** it up
