I have been offered a Secondhand CQR anchor ,at a good price but would like to know
if this is the genuine thing . Can somebody tell me if the genuine article has' CQR ' has
written in the casting.
Also , has anybody any views on Leaded Line rather than Chain (he's selling that as well).

A genuine cqr, has cqr cast into it, a few ex navy ones are just stamped with cqr, they are usually not galvanised.

I am not sure if it is generally known but CQR stands for "SECURE" Just one of these silly little bits of information that blocks up the thnking processes.

I was always lead to believe that CQR stood for Chatham Quick Release and was developed by the RN in Chatham Dockyard for use predominately in river mud (Medway - Thames estury). It buried its self deep into the mud but was easily released by rolling the stock on the pin and then pulling off slightly to one side, which rolled the fluke when recovering.

Leaded-Line:

This is simply a nylon warp with some form of lead shot embedded in it to make it sink. I seem to recall it from about 10 years ago, but not heard of it recently. I personally would never put my trust in warp....chaffes too easilly. Stick to decent chain!
