Cowes Week fireworks confusion

Many websites advised that there would be no fireworks at the end of Cowes week. Yet on Friday night I observed, from the Beaulieu River, a considerable fireworks display. Moreover, towards the end the fireworks appeared to be launching from two sites in the Cowes area. I’m wondering how a display was laid on after so many alerts saying not to expect it. Does anyone know the story?

Don't know the story, but we were also a little surprised... Certainly they weren't official.

Every year for the last five years or so they've been saying no fireworks due to lack of sponsorship, yet every year there's been fireworks.?
