For the last few years, for some reason (??) when this has been on I've managed to miss the ridiculously early 10am start on Bank Holiday Sunday.
I'm going to make more of an effort this, providing of course, I can find somewhere to park the boat.

Couple of years ago we were privileged to watch the start from the comfort of Martin Payne's Hunton 'Skyfall'. Really memorable morning.
Not the best of pix but might set the scene...

weather looking ok at the moment but its a week away can easily change,
Was out 2019 watching the start then ran down to Alum bay waiting for them to return,
Martin Payne and myself had to make a quick retreat from there as the fog came rolling up from Bournemouth area ,

We were with Martin in Skyfall for the start in 2019. I don’t remember the fog! Could that maybe have been a different year?

Good for viewing:- Egypt Point, Hurst Castle, Southbourne Beach, Boscombe and Bournemouth Pier, Durlston Head, St Albans Head, Portland Bill, Torquay Haldon Pier, Torquay Peak, Tor Cove.

The organisers
just rung Hurst Castle and if you pay £4 each to get in they said you stand near lighthouse to get a good view of the boats.

On the eastern most tip of Hurst spit is a big pile of rock and shingle they are using to repair the castle. That would make an excellent view point and no £4 to pay.

On the Island the roof of Fort Vic very good.

Well we parked in Yarmuff and walked to Fort Victoria and watched from there. I took a couple of photos but anyone who knows my photographic skills will appreciate me not uploading them. I was surprised how spread out the boats and unfortunately from the wall of the fort they seemed quite a way out, so it wasn't as exciting as I hoped. A friend watched the start from his rib which looked much better.
Still a massive achievment for the crew and mechanics with the fastest time of 2hrs 21 mins

yup, we were out also, picked the wrong side of the start chute as they ran north and we were south of the line. nice to see them racing again and massive kudos to SIilverline, averaging over 94 mph is some achievement!

Have to be honest and say the tracker app was totally useless and we ended up heading home as we had no idea what time boats were coming back. the winning boat wasnt even showing on the app... such a shame that with the tech available today its not possible to make this more of a spectator sport which would also bring sponsors and encourage new boats to the line?
