Filled up with diesel at Cowes this afternoon and it was still running at just before 5pm...... I have too say the yachtists are giving it a particularly wide swerve when passing, not surprisingly !

Any sign of the council taking any responsibility for this continuing farce? I have heard of normal for Norfolk but maybe this is " NFW" ? Do feel sorry for East Cowes business though who I suspect must have been adversely impacted by this situation .

My understanding is that it is being taken out of service on Monday for the foreseeable future, and the council have called in the lawyers.

Hopefully the lawyers will make a better job of designing a ferry that works -or just copying the last one which had worked for years ?

But they changed the slipways....can the old one still be used?
BTW - the old one was built by Fairey Marine.

You'd have thought that as a short term solution that (re-commisioning the old one) would be far the better idea...

Same designer! Alan Burnard, who bought us some of the best looking British motorboats ever, designed a chain ferry.
I think it was their biggest boat and the one that covered most miles.

And despite not having CAD or other computer modelling, he still managed to design one that worked. Unlike the latest effort I understand.
