Funnily enough I just bought a 7.05m activ cruiser. It is 3 years old done 90 hours and I worked out that the previous owner, who had purchased it new, and kept in in a marina had paid £500 an hour for it's 90 hours of use. I knew it's purchase price, sales price and marina costs...so my figure is pretty accurate.

I might be wrong...but £500 per hour to fiddle around in a 23 foot boat seems like something you might want to think about first. :)

I think that this thread is based upon a false premise: one buys a dream, not a boat.

The calculation is not that simple, 90 engine hours doesn't mean 90 hours spent onboard. It could be 30 mins to anchorage, 4 hours anchored up, sunbathing, fishing, chilling and then 30 mins back to marina. One hour on the engine could be five hours total use, that brings down your host per hour figure a lot.
