Cost of new rigging

thankyou for all the great comments and advice for the moment i will have to live with it as it is but will defo get it looked at over Winter this year and replaced as i have a feeling its not been touched for well over 10 years.

Hi.
I've just had a quote for my 28 boat. It is not a standard rig. Wire sizes vary.6 and 7mm.has jumper stays .to replace everything including forestay 1450 Inc vat. 200 to fit.that was with a goodprfessional rgger on south coast. Everything replaced.. thought it very reasonable and not worth trying to save a few hundred doing it myself. Only take o e mistake and you would save nothing. No point doing a cheap job.

We tried to get a quote from Tony at Conwy and he didn’t seem so keen to go ‘out and about’ and work in other yards etc (or even have a look at ours!). Not casting aspersions - he essentially said as much, and I get it, as he’s got a nice setup and customer base over there.

But I reckon if you took the rigging to him, he’s still give a competitive quote and do an excellent job. Everyone I’ve spoken to who’s had work done can’t speak highly enough.

Having the wires made up nicely by a local pro still beats sending off for them, plus the risk of spiralling shipping/travel costs if things aren’t perfect the first time.

Or DIY with sta-lok? Then you can price everything up yourself and in theory might never need a rigger again, if you get on with it alright? I doubt it’d actually cost much less though - maybe even more, as some of their bits are expensive and pro riggers understandably have good value sources for materials. Often pleasantly surprising compared to Jimmy Green etc.
