I have just had a quote from Bellingham Charts to cover UK to Azores and then to Gibraltar which works out at £435. How does that rate with other suppliers?

That's what I'd do.... coupled with a Reeds Almanac. Get you into most places. Maybe pick some ports that you'd consider diverting to along the way and have charts for those as well if you really felt you needed the extra. Can't see a whole set would be worth it....Especially if you have a plotter too.
You can get into Brest, come what may, with Camaret off to one side if it suits.
You can get into shelter by gaining the Baie de Quiberon, rounding Ile Hoedic, with plenty of options after that.
You can get into the huge ria at La Corunna, then find one of several places to stop.
The rias of Vigo and Pontevedra are accessible in most weathers, with 'breakwater' islands to seaward.
That should be enough for one trip....

Also Gijon, Northern Spain fantastic place. Good access, lovely city, fun loving people
With my luck, within minutes of buying the charts I need, a new set will be published. Is there any schedule of when publications are due to be released?
I was looking at the Imray ones.
