Easing the foresail prior to furling is not something I have come across, is this a normal/accepted/required practice?
I've generally set the foresail tension at the mast and left if there until I come to take it down again. Not suggesting that is the prescribed way to do it - but until one learns an alternative - one goes with what we know. Every day is a learning day.
