As it has now been decided that in fact it's not that important to fly the national ensign, does anyone know were I can get one of these??
Seems to be the new ensign being adopted by Cornish commercial vessels....

You could try Googling 'Cornish Ensign' and taking the first entry. Not that most people approve, or it's helpful to national unity, or remotely legal either in this country (which is called the United Kingdom, for the benefit of some other posters) or in any other... but let's not go there again!

Yes, agree with you, unity is the thing with local pride.

Anybody wanting independence should look at Africa, India and others

Oh for pitty's sake, once again a torent of ignorance from the sawsonacks and deliberate wind-up from janners.

Most chandlers in Cornwall will do you a Cornish ensign.

Personally, as I am quite happy with Cornwall's constitutional position within the UK (even if the English are not) I am quite happy to reconcile my national pride in being Cornish with flying a red ensign as I am equally proud to be British. I fly a stonking great big St Piran's cross from the port spreader though, just to avoid any confusion.

The thing is, the more the English get up tight about the Cornish and the more defensive they get about any little symbol of independance, or being different, the more the Cornish will do it. The government in Winchester and then Westminster have always recognised this (well until about 1850 anyway) which is why they always tried so hard not to upset the applecart, or at least when they did, they did so with irresistable military force.

I really don't know why the Scots and the Cornish feel the need to do otherwise. The mercantile ensign is distinctly British rather than English and the Cornish and Scotch ensigns still include the Union Flag and thus it can hardly be considered a seperatist or anti-Union gesture.

(Stands by from a torrent of abuse from English posters who are offended by any attempt to vere away from the CofE endorsed version of English history)

As it goes, my Cornish flag came from the Flag Loft via the chandlers in Newlyn.

According to Nostradamus, Cornwall will break away from England in 2025.

Always wondered how he could predict that, according to the Newspapers he predicted the end of the world a fews years back.
