Hi all,
I'm new to sailing and planning to buy my first boat — around 22ft. I don't currently have a motor, but I could get one if it's needed to secure or access a mooring.
I've seen that you can apply for a mooring through official channels, but I'm not really sure how it all works — like how you get a mooring laid, who does it, or whether there are more affordable options locally.
I'm based around Cork / Cobh, and I'm hoping to find a simple, cost-effective way to keep the boat — maybe a swing mooring, storage option, or somewhere I can legally and safely keep it afloat. Not looking for a marina berth, just something basic while I learn the ropes.
If anyone has advice, knows who to talk to, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
